If you know anything about me and my work through Consciouslie to educate people on the impacts sugar has on their health you know I’m not a big fan of candy. With that, I do think it’s okay to have a little here and there. We shouldn’t deprive ourselves of everything.
So when Halloween comes around I do let my daughter go trick or treating and collect bags full of candy. Afterward, she gets to pick out a handful she’d like to keep. The rest gets packaged up into little bags and we drive around and give them out to the homeless.
I don’t love the idea of giving out sugar, but with what little they have I feel it’s a kind gesture to share a little goodie with them. They always seem to appreciate it as well.
We do this with other items as well. Sometimes I’ll buy a few extra boxes of granola bars or healthy snack foods and we put together baggies and give them out when we see homeless individuals. I always keep a box in my car some I have something on hand to give out.
This is a great way to show A Little Extra Love and kindness each day!
